The scope and program of the conference are defined to provide an overview of recent developments in quantitative flow visualization techniques, both from an experimental and numerical point of view.

Topics to be covered include

Quantitative flow imaging and analysis

  • Environmental, industrial, biological & bio-medical flows
  • Generic single phase, multiphase, particle laden & granular flows
  • Flows with heat and/or mass transfer, chemical reactions
  • Flows of complex fluids (liquid crystals, electro-/magnetorheological fluids, active media)

Experimental flow visualization techniques

  • multidimensional (2D, 3D, 4D) acquisition of flow quantities: velocity, vorticity, pressure, shear, temperature, density, concentration, …
  • advanced flow sensing & imaging techniques: optical, infrared, acoustic, x-ray, MRI, PET, …

Numerical techniques in quantitative flow visualization

  • Pattern recognition, feature classification, modal decomposition
  • Constrained interpolation, data fusion and assimilation methods
  • Machine learning techniques applied to flow visualization
  • Advanced rendering techniques for multidimensional data sets
